Happy New Year! As resolutions are in full swing we wanted to share a few of our favorite fitness apps to help keep you on track to meet your fitness goals. Each fitness app is different so we’ve done some of the hard work for you by trying out several different apps and giving you all the information we can to help you choose the right one. We’ve put together a little summary for each app and given our rating for how easy it is to use on a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being very easy).
Summary: More workouts than you could do in a lifetime including all different types of exercise. Programs created by professional trainers who lead you through workouts. Detailed explanations of all workouts.
Cost: 7 day free trial, $19.99/month
Ease of use: 8/10
Pros: Options. So many options. App allows you to workout almost anywhere and provides trackers, community support, articles, and the ability to plan your workouts.
Cons: Could be too many options for those who aren’t sure where to start.
Summary of what the app is sharing: Pilates focused workouts, recipes developed by dieticians,
Cost: 14 day free trial; $199 Year or $27/month (billed quarterly) or $37 billed monthly
Ease of use: Very easy to use. Download app to any device. Use search words to find workouts that fit your availability and level. Recipes can be found by using key words like “easy meal prep”
Pros: Short workouts easy to do whenever, most do not require equipment, low impact on joints, beginner friendly,
Cons: Pilates specific workouts only, no music,
Summary of what the app is sharing: Workouts based on Les Mills classes!
Cost: Monthly 9.99 for basic and 19.99 for more access to content. Pay yearly upfront 4.99 or 59.88 for basic and 6.66/79.96 up front. BOTH have 14 day free trial
Ease of use: Very easy to use. Download app to any device. The videos are recorded classes so you follow instructors per movement
Pros: Beginner friendly option if you are new to les mills, great variety of workout options from strength, cardio, flexibility etc. Fun music and encouraging coaching. Many time formats available from 10 min to full 60 min
Cons: Some workouts require equipment. They have their own line of equipment but you can sub with your own dumbbells/band.
Summary: A personal training app with almost fifty different programs within ten different categories to choose from all with the goal of helping clients hone in on their body’s abilities and performance especially in regards to improving mobility. Online coaching available.
Cost: $49.50/month
Ease of use: 8/10
Pros: You can send videos for a coach check form, offer corrections, and answer questions.
Cons: You may not have the same coach answer your messages each time.
Summary: Primarily used as a corporate wellness program but open to individual use as well. 4,000 plus videos on yoga, cooking, workouts, mental health, and more. Uses platform for interactive incentives and webinars to further wellbeing education.
Cost: 2 week free trial, $14.99/month
Ease of use: 6.5/10
Pros: User can pick the length and intensity of workouts to filter out programming not for them. Wide range of videos and workout durations to choose from.
Cons: Takes a little digging to find the right workout or trainer for you.
