Fall is the perfect time to find new ways or rediscover old loves when it comes to fitness. The weather is ideal for outdoor activities, the outfits are adorable, and it’s easy to embrace the season with exercise. Finding ways to enjoy fitness and fall together are easy, just lace up those shoes and get ready to move!
Is there a better season for hiking? I really don’t think so! Head to your local trails or plan a day trip to the mountains for some crisp air and leaves crunching under your feet. With cooler temperatures, hiking always feels more manageable in the fall and the colorful views from the top of any trail are absolutely worthwhile.
There’s something about fall that just begs for outdoor yoga. Hiking seems like the logical fall activity but yoga outdoors during fall is magical. The sounds, the smells, and the environment around you all add up to a really lovely yoga experience. Don’t forget to look up what free yoga events are happening near you!
Fall means leaves and no one enjoys that chore. What if we turned raking leaves into a workout instead of just drudgery? Turn your watch on, grab your rake, and track the calorie burn while the bags gather at the curb. Yard work is hard work but it can be a little less cumbersome if we count it as part of our daily activity. Get your family involved and see who can rake the biggest pile, carry the heaviest bag, or jump the highest into the leaf pile.
Pumpkins are heavy y’all! Head to the pumpkin patch to get a whole bunch of pumpkins to bring home and deck out your front porch. Lifting and carrying those pumpkins is hard work! Decorating your front porch is an unconventional but effective way to find some fitness during fall.
If you want to get really creative with your pumpkins, use them as resistance for a strength workout. A few ideas could be curls, rows, presses, extra weight in your lap for dip, elevated push-ups, and much more.

Fall is a great time to get your running shoes dusted off. Sign up for a race or just go out for fun. The weather is cooler so it feels a bit brisk when you start and then absolutely wonderful once you get going. It seems like fall is when many running races happen so it’s a great time to find a challenge and go for it! As winter approaches, you may not be able to run outside with the darkness or the cold, so take advantage!
Seasons changing always inspires me to try new things. As the weather shifts, we switch out what clothes we wear, and it feels like a small new beginning- look for something new to try. Maybe it’s a new gym or a new running program. Maybe just a cute new workout outfit or some new shoes. A new season means an opportunity to try new things.
Fall and fitness go together like pumpkin spice and lattes. Lace up those hiking boots or break in your new running shoes to hear that lovely crunch of leaves under your feet. Better yet- grab your rake and put those leaves to good use with a workout!
